Paediatric First Aid Course Leicester

2-Day Level 3 OSTED Approved Paediatric First Aid Course Delivered In Our Leicester Centre Or At Your Workplace.

This course has been specifically designed to meet the Department for Education's Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Framework requirements. It is ideal for:

  • Childcare professionals: Those with a Level 2 and/or Level 3 childcare qualification who are working in early years settings and need to meet EYFS staff-to-child ratios.
  • Registered childminders and assistants: Those required by EYFS to hold a valid paediatric first aid certificate.
  • Parents and guardians: Individuals, such as parents or grandparents, who want to learn essential paediatric first aid skills to care for infants and children.

Important Note: Newly qualified entrants to early years settings (after 30 June 2016) who hold Level 2 or Level 3 childcare qualifications must obtain a full or emergency paediatric first aid certificate within three months of starting work.

Entry Requirements

  • Learners must be at least 14 years old.
  • Participants should be capable of performing practical tasks, including floor-level activities, on the first day of training.

This comprehensive course equips participants with the skills to manage a variety of paediatric emergencies. Topics include:

  1. Roles and responsibilities of paediatric first aiders
  2. Infant CPR and safe use of an AED
  3. Child CPR and safe use of an AED
  4. Managing choking incidents
  5. Treating wounds, bleeding, and shock
  6. Dealing with unconscious casualties
  7. Management of fractures in children
  8. Recognising and responding to anaphylaxis
  9. Addressing catastrophic bleeding (optional)
  10. Spinal and head injuries
  11. Burns and scalds
  12. High temperatures and febrile seizures
  13. Treating bites and stings
  14. Poisoning emergencies

Certification and Validity

Upon successfully completing the course and assessment, participants will receive a Paediatric First Aid certificate, valid for three years.
